Step 2 Personality Questionnaire

The engine behind Match. Twenty years of occupational psychology in a fifteen-minute questionnaire.

Big-Five based. 15 scales across 5 domains. Ipsative format — so candidates choose between options rather than simply rating themselves. The questionnaire that powers every FIT Score.

The Science

Big-Five foundations. Built for occupational use.

The questionnaire is grounded in Big-Five personality theory — the most replicated framework in occupational psychology. We measure 15 scales across 5 domains, calibrated for the demands of work rather than clinical or academic settings.

Domain 1

Extraversion

The degree to which an individual is assertive, sociable, and engaging. How they show up in group settings — their energy in social contexts, directness, and drive to connect.

3 scales — Assertive · Gregarious · Engaging
Domain 2

Openness

Curiosity, creativity, and appetite for variety. The degree to which an individual seeks new experiences, thinks imaginatively, and applies analytical thinking to novel problems.

3 scales — Imaginative · Variety Seeking · Analytical
Domain 3

Agreeableness

Warmth, trust, and empathy. The tendency to build collaborative relationships, extend goodwill to others, and act with consideration for the people around them.

3 scales — Trusting · Benevolent · Empathic
Domain 4

Conscientiousness

Organisation, diligence, and drive for results. The tendency to plan ahead, follow through on commitments, and pursue goals with persistence and attention to detail.

3 scales — Organised · Diligent · Achieving
Domain 5

Resilience

Emotional stability under pressure. The degree to which an individual remains composed, optimistic, and grounded when facing stress, setbacks, or demanding environments.

3 scales — Relaxed · Composed · Optimistic
Total

15 scales

Three per domain. Individually scored and combined into the FIT Score against your five priority behaviours.

Format

Forced choice. By design.

Ipsative format means candidates choose between equally positive options — they can't rate themselves highly across the board.

Every question forces a trade-off. The candidate must reveal a preference, not just express agreement. This makes the questionnaire more revealing than a standard Likert-scale measure, and significantly harder to fake.

Advantage
Harder to fake
No "strongly agree everything" option. Every answer has a cost.
Advantage
More revealing
Reveals genuine preferences, not socially desirable responses.
